Trail #587

CTT takes you on the trails.

Trail No. 587 is a vertical trail that connects Corniglia to the AV5T. It starts on Via Serra, which is also the SVA Trail. The trailhead is just a few meters from the back of the Church of San Pietro, built in 1334. There are several water fountains nearby, one of which is right at the start of the trail. Leaving Corniglia, the trail climbs long stone-paved steps. Vineyards and gardens line the trail for the first 200 meters. The trail then becomes steeper as it goes through olive groves. At around the one-kilometer mark, on the right, is Trail No. 586 to Volastra. The vegetation changes into a forest, mainly pines, chestnuts, and holm oaks. Although the forest has taken over abandoned fields, the dry stone walls are clearly visible along the trail. At kilometer 1.6, the trail turns left onto the coastal road (SP 51). It follows the road for the next 300 meters, then splits off to the right. The last 500 meters wind through a holm oak forest on a singletrack. Trail No. 587 ends at the junction with AV5T at “Prato di Corniglia.”
