CTT takes you on the trails.
Trail No. 508 is one of the 2 vertical trails that connect Vernazza to the AV5T. It’s the longer of the two and is also the historic path to the hilltop sanctuary of Madonna di Reggio. The trail starts on Via Roma, just north of the Vernazza train station, on the left. The trail begins as a concrete staircase, with some switchbacks up to Via Brigate Partigiane. The trail officially continues on Via Brigate Partigiane, but instead of the paved road, we prefer the stairs that run alongside the 17th-century church of San Francesco. After about 100 meters, the stairs reconnect to Via Brigate Partigiane near the town cemetery. After the cemetery, the next 2 kilometers go along a wide paved trail with switchbacks, featuring votive niches depicting the Stations of the Cross in places, all the way to the square of the Sanctuary of Reggio.
