📣 Trail of the Week: Trail Val Di Chiara #SentieroES
CTT takes you on the trails.
The Val di Chiara Trail is a vertical trail that connects the Cinque Terre hamlet of Groppo to Trail N. 530 (Strada dei Santuari). This trail had been abandoned for roughly 40 years before we reopened it this winter together with other volunteers. In the past it was used by locals from Groppo to transport wine to Ricco’ del Golfo in the Vara Valley. The trail is unmarked and as of this writing is open but still a work in progress. It starts at the top of the main parking area of Groppo at Via Piave. From here it turns right and crosses the “canale di Groppo” at its confluence with the “fosso di Crovo”. It follows the “fosso di Crovo” for a few meters before climbing a short but steep stairway that leads to the provincial road SP51. Cantina Cinque Terre, an agricultural cooperative and the largest producer of local wine, is just up the road on the left.
